As long as there is enough space in the internal memory of your navigation device, MyTomTom installs your map in that memory. If there is not enough space in the internal memory, MyTomTom installs your map on a memory card. You don't need to select a location for installing your map.

To install your map, do the following:

1. Insert the memory card in the memory card slot of your navigation device.
   
   
2. Connect your navigation device to your computer and switch it on.
   
   
3. Make sure you are using the latest version of the TomTom application on your device. [ show me how... ]
   
   
4. Install your map. [ show me how... ]

Note: You cannot use a card reader to install your map.

• The following devices require only the map to be installed in the memory card:
  GO x50, GO x40, GO x30, GO x20

  Which TomTom device do I have?

  	To see which device you have, enter the first 2 characters of your serial number and then click GO. The serial number is on the bottom of your TomTom device.     GO * TTS = Text to speech

  Before you can use a new memory card reader to install your map you need to insert the memory card in your navigation device. Do the following:
  
  
  1. Insert the memory card in your navigation device.
     
     
  2. Switch on your navigation device and wait for it to start.
     
     You get the error No map found.
     
     
  3. Turn off your navigation device.
     
     
  4. Connect your memory card to your computer using a memory card reader.
     
     
  5. Install the latest application to the memory card. [ show me how... ]
     
     
  6. Install your map. [ show me how... ]
     
     
  7. To install a voice using HOME, click Add Traffic, Voices, Safety Cameras etc. and then Voices.
     
     
• Memory card reader
  Before you can use a new memory in a card reader to install your map you need to insert the memory card in your navigation device.
  
  
  1. Insert the memory card in your navigation device.
     
     
  2. Switch on your navigation device and wait for it to start.
     
     You get the error No map found.
     
     
  3. Turn off your navigation device.
     
     You can now connect your memory card to HOME using a memory card reader.
